Image tools / Image Compress

Compress a photo without sending it anywhere

Quality slider, original vs new size, JPEG / WebP / PNG. Local only.

Compression here means re-encoding, not a magic lossless shrink of every PNG. For a camera JPEG, drop quality until the preview still looks acceptable and the kilobytes fit the email or listing form. For a screenshot with text, JPEG ringing will hurt — stay on PNG or WebP.

The comparison is the point of this page: you see the new size before you replace the original. Target-KB pages (50 KB, 100 KB) exist when a form names a number. Use those when the cap is the requirement; use this compressor when you want control.

Image Compressor runs in this browser with Canvas. The file is not uploaded to imagecropx. Close the tab and the copy in memory is gone.

JPEG vs WebP vs PNG on this slider

JPEG: smallest for faces and landscapes; no transparency. WebP: often smaller than JPEG for the web; some Indian portals still reject it. PNG: keeps edges; Canvas PNG is not TinyPNG — photos stay heavy.

Questions about this tool

Does Image Compressor upload the file?

No. This tool runs in the tab. See Privacy for decoder notes (HEIC, PDF.js worker).

What is the file size cap?

About 25 MB per file. Very large pixel counts are rejected so the tab stays responsive.
