Modern browsers are happy with PNG favicons. You get the common square sizes from one source. Crop to square first if the mark is off-centre.
A classic multi-size .ico is a different file; the ICO generator page is for that experiment. Apple touch icons want the 180 px PNG.

Do I get a .ico file?
You get PNG sizes used by modern browsers. A classic multi-size ICO can come in a later batch.
Does Favicon Generator upload the file?

What is the file size cap?
About 25 MB per file. Very large pixel counts are rejected so the tab stays responsive.
